My personal recommendation is that Keiser University seems to be very well established both online and also on the ground in terms of physical campuses, so it would be worth considering seriously. Keiser University has many financial aid programmes to assist students, and is accredited, and there are no known controversies, so overall Keiser University would be a reputable college and online degree issuer that one could possibly trust. Note: Florida Metropolitan University is now known as Everest University; there was a name change in 2007, and so we will be referring to it by the new name in the evaluation - the old name has been left here so that people can easily find the university if they are looking for it (alumni, former students, researchers etc)

Everest University is a system of for profit private universities located mainly in Florida in the USA. Everest University also has many campuses located in Canada and in other places in the USA, and is one of the USA's largest educational institutions that makes a lot of money. Everest University offers many degrees, masters and career specific programmes, and also offers distance and on campus part time learning as well, making it a school that offers many offers and opportunities for many students of varied background and varied interests. Everest University is owned by Corinthian Colleges international, according to Wikipedia.

Everest University is accredited, but there is massive debate over its accreditation because it holds national accreditation, unlike regional accreditation. There is no worry about Everest University not being recognised, because it is indeed recognised, but the problem is that other educational and study insititutions that have regional accreditation may not necessarily recognise its national status and there may be some problems with credit transfer. Be warned and you should be alerted to this if you are interested in reading for a degree or certification from Everest University.

There were, in 2004, controversies surrounding Everest University but there has been no conclusive evidence of any wrongdoing (wikipedia, Everest website). It is very complex and students should be warned before they look into it. Everest University is nonetheless recognised and accredited, although there is massive debate and controversies surrounding it.

Everest University offers associate degrees, bachelors degrees and also the usual MBA. Everest University offers really career oriented degrees and programmes and these are:

Sallie Mae Alternative Loan Program. The Sallie Mae Alternative Loan program is a low-cost, private loan alternative available to students who need funding beyond the limits of the federal loan program. It allows you to borrow all the money you need after you have reached your annual Federal Stafford Loan limit.

Student Tuition Assistance Resource Loan (STAR Loan). Students who do not qualify for the Sallie Mae Alternative Loan Program may be eligible to borrow up to fifty percent of their tuition costs through the STAR Loan program. It is not available for financing the full cost of tuition. Students must have a primary source of tuition funding to be eligible for this plan.

Why you should study there and my personal recommendations

I will withhold judgement on Everest University and I think that more research is needed. Nonetheless Everest University might be good for business, criminal studies and other very specific courses and online degrees that you could be looking for, and I still reiterate that more research needs to be done.

What does the online university itself say? Everest University says that there is hands on training, small teams, flexible timings for classes, experiences pro teachers, financial planning is available, modern equipment is present, there are good career services available, there are lots of programme offerings, there are many other good reasons why you should study at Everest University. You may wish to consider their opinion in this case and not mine, since I am withholding my personal recommendation for this one. The controversies surrounding the university may have an impact and I personally would not want to give any opinion other than that you may wish to have a look around my site and see if there are other institutions that offer the online degree (at the level, type of degree, and cost) that you might be looking for.

The schools and subjects here are career based and very challenging but rewarding, and the degrees will be very useful for a future career in whatever specialisation.

Ellis College has many good things going for it - the college is well known, famous and very established; there are no known controversies; the degrees offered are relevant and specialised and tailored to suit your needs.

I will stick my neck out on this one and say that if you are interested in the subjects that this university has to offer, Ellis College might be a very good choice. The parent campus, the physical university of NYIT is far more outstanding and also worth your consideration if you are considering a physical campus or degrees awarded from physical campuses. Located in NY, NYIT is an excellent university and so is Ellis College. I strongly recommend them, but of course more research on your part is needed.

A Brief Look at the University - Champlain College Online

Champlain College is a very interesting and global college. Initially I had thought that it was Champlain University and was going to research on that, but could not find any websites on that, and instead found Champlain College on the Internet instead. Champlain College is mainly a physical campus college, but it does of course offer online degree programmes, which is what I will be looking into. First, however, here comes the review of the university itself and what you can expect from Champlain College.

Champlain College was established in 1878 and is a private, coeductional college located in Vermont in the USA. That is not the only physical campus for this college, as there are also satellite campuses around the world - in Mumbai, Montreal and Dublin, as well as of course the Champlain College Online website where they offer online degrees and distance education.

The college offers a variety of programmes online, and these will be looked at in the course of my review. There are no known controversies surrounding Champlain College and it is considered a global campus and with a very global outlook in terms of education and physical reach of physical campuses.

( A small disclaimer and notice: In addition, there is a Champlain Regional College, which is an unrelated but similarly named institution in Canada. In the course of this article and detailed review, Champlain College is under scrutiny and not the Canadian Champlain Regional College, even though the names are similar and one might easily mistake them. )

Which courses are offered at Champlain College Online

Champlain College Online offers a lot of online courses, but of course not as many and at differing levels as dedicated online universities, as it is not an online university, but rather it is a college that has an online department in addition to its many physical campuses worldwide. Certificates, associate degrees and bachelors degrees are offered at Champlain College Online, and also, it is very important to know that Business Administration MBA, and Managing Innovation and Information Technology masters are only available online. No PhD degrees are offered online, as of 2008.

The undergraduate degree subjects offered are as follows, from the Champlain College website:

Accounting, advertising and marketing, psychology, criminal justice administration, social work and human services, internet business and global business, software development, IT, and several other fields, like forensics.

There is no mention of the level of the degrees, and more information should be requested from Champlain College directly. The main idea probably is that Champlain College is not key for online studies, but key for distance learning in different countries, where people go to the centre or the campus to learn subjects from Champlain College. That would explain the huge facilities and the various worldwide campuses, and the small Champlain College website with little information on it, compared to say, Kaplan or Phoenix, which are dedicated here to online education, and with a lot of information and resources that you may wish to explore.

More information is freely available from other university review sites, and more importantly, perhaps you may want to look around my site to see if other universities interest you if you are unable to find the subject that you want here in this article. Because you would want to stay have a look and compare various universities, this site might be useful as the right hand side bar gives you many options to select and many other avenues of exploration here on this site.

Finance and other Matters at Champlain College Online

As the course is accelerated, as are many other online courses and distance learning courses, the finance aspect is $440 per credit hour, according to oedb.org online. In addition to the course fees, you will be interested to know that the usual loans, scholarships, government grants and all other financial aid and assistance are also available here for US citizens. However, an interesting thing to know is that many of Champlain College's students are not from the USA and are instead from all over the world, and hence the financial aspects may not interest them because they may not even be eligible for the financial aid for Champlain College and for some US colleges. Hence, more research is needed if you need or require Champlain College's aid and scholarship programmes.

Why you should study there and my personal recommendations

I will sit on the fence with Champlain College. I know, I know, I should take a stand and often I do recommend colleges for various reasons here and there. However, this one is hard to decide. It seems to me that if you are interested in studying in the physical campuses around the world, or if you are from Mumbai, Canada or Ireland, then this may be of interest to you and you may strongly want to study at Champlain College. You would be interested in Champlain College if you are an international student because that is Champlain College's main clientele. For US citizens, this college may not be of that much use. Champlain College seems to be rather good overall and may not be of the best quality, but the education that it gives should serve you quite well. Overall, I am sitting on the fence for this one, and perhaps you might want to look deeper and look around Champlain College before making up your mind. Acadia University, Athabasca University, Cape Breton, Laurentian, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Nipissing, Royal Military College of Canada, Tele - universite, Thompson Rivers, University of Manitoba, and University of New Brunswick.

Collectively they form the Canadian Virtual University, which can be thought of as an online portal for online education that these universities offer. I would say that even if the universities within this consortium or union change, there should be no problem because of the economies of scale associated with the Canadian Virtual University. There are many universities combining their efforts and their collaborative efforts have resulted in many degrees and programmes being offered collectively that each university would have been hard pressed to provide entirely. That is to say, there is real economies of scale here and Canadian Virtual University is a very viable choice in terms of range and scale of degrees offered by the member universities and Canadian Virtual University as a whole.

There are no known controversies because Canadian Virtual University is new and also because it is not a university strictly speaking by itself. There are also no known controversies surrounding the member universities that make up Canadian Virtual University. There are both French and English courses at the Canadian Virtual University, so for non-English speakers this might be a useful choice for a university.

Simply - the range is good and there are many subjects at various levels to choose from.

Unlike US universities and education in the UK and the USA, there seems to be no established loans and scholarship programme for Canadian Virtual University as at 2008. That is not to say that funding is not available, but it is probably available only via the individual universities themselves. I would hazard a guess and say that the usual loans, grants and working aid should be available in addition to scholarships, but there is no mention of any such aid, loans and scholarships on the Canadian Virtual University website as at 2008.

I would say that perhaps you need to find out the grants and aid system available in Canada and for international students studying for a Canadian degree. Data is scarce for this topic, though, so be warned! In summary, while data is hard to find, financial aid should be available for Canadian Virtual University just as US loans and aid are available for students reading an American degree online.

Why you should study there and my personal recommendations

Canadian Virtual University has a few things going for it: there are many participating universities so there is reputation, accreditation, and a range of degrees at all levels. Some universities here on my site have only one or two offerings but this Canadian Virtual University has all the degrees and has many subjects to offer. There is probably everything that you ever wanted to study and at various prices and various costs, and various levels, so there should be no problem at all. There are no known controversies and the website is user friendly and really promotes good online education, distance learning and IT knowledge as well. There are both French and English courses at the Canadian Virtual University, so for non-English speakers this might be a useful choice for a university. There are many good reasons for recommending this university for online education and distance learning!

I would recommend this university because of its range of choices and not because of its particular subjects. So do make your choice and have a good look at the many courses before making your decision! Canadian Virtual University offers many choices and many opportunities in varied fields. I have looked at many different universities in the course of researching materials for my university site here, where I evaluate universities. And so it was with a little surprise that I came across a phrase that I needed to check out - proprietary college. As it turns out, that technical term just means that the college in question is for-profit, but for-profit in the sense that it is run by business interests who are owners or investors rather than government officials or by boards. Bryant and Stratton college is such a proprietary college. It actually started life not as a university but as a business institute to provide workplace education. Bryant and Stratton college is now an official university that grants degrees, and is accredited. There are currently no known major controversies surrounding Bryant and Stratton college, even though many other colleges that are run for-profit or run as proprietary colleges are known to have some controversies, according to Wikipedia. Bryant and Stratton college is apparently one of the better run colleges and has no problems.

Bryant and Stratton college has many campuses in the USA, in particular in New York, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Within each place there are many other campuses and many physical sites where the colleges are located. In addition, Bryant and Stratton college has the Bryant and Stratton Online site, which is their internet portal for online degrees and online education.

If you are interested in the physical campuses of Bryant and Stratton college, bear in mind that they have at least 15 different campuses and these are spread out - so it might be a good idea to check out which campus is nearest to your location, if you are in the USA. (In 2001, 5 out of 10 producers of IT graduates of IT degree holders in the USA were from DeVry University campuses, according to Wikipedia).

DeVry University Online offers associate degrees to masters degrees, and in varied fields apart from IT, such as professional studies and business administration. Nonetheless the key and major field for this university or series of university campuses is IT and technology. If you are considering an online degree or accreditation or professional certification from an online university in the field of IT, professional studies and business adminstration, DeVry University Online might be a good choice for you to look up and check up on.

Do be warned and do know how to research up on this university and compare it with others.

Research into more universities before making a choice.

Why you should study there and my personal recommendations

According to DeVry University Online, you should study with them and get your online degree with them because they focus on your educational success, they have accelerated learning and accelerated degree programmes, they have workplace oriented learning (which is the selling point of most online degree programmes anyways), and they have a job search support. I think this is one of the more unique elements of DeVry University Online, the job search programme is very unique and rather useful. I would not strongly recommend DeVry University Online to those who are looking for fields outside IT and technology. However, for computer engineering, for technology, for IT and stuff related to this field, DeVry University Online may be a very viable choice for you to get your online degree and certification from. Perhaps more research into related IT and technology degrees might be warranted before doing anything further. Cheers!
